This is a Sr. Position and will be the PSCI Lead.  Lead functions (e.g., ensure accurate and timely timecards, coordinate with customers, inform PSCI management, etc.) will be performed in addition to the technical activities.  Will report to the PSCI program manager. The mission is to support the operations and maintenance of gliders and profiling floats at the Naval Oceanographic Office, Stennis Space Center, MS.

Provide electronics support to unmanned glider variants. Maintain the full operational spectrum of glider systems.  Provide O&M support during missions to include activities such as preparing sensing system deployments, troubleshooting issues, and packing systems for shipment.

Provide Acoustic Electronics Support.  Provide electronics operations and maintenance support to the Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) Slocum gliders. Prepare each Slocum glider system for deployment by performing an extensive suit of functional testing prescribed by the manufacture and Government procedures. Troubleshoot gliders to identify and correct faults with the system and then complete appropriate repairs. Maintain GFE inventory of stocked glider parts and batteries. Provide inventory reports with information needed to replenishing inventory. Use and maintain specialized glider test equipment such as helium leak detectors and ballast tanks. Perform ballasting of each glider for area specific deployments. Pack and prepare systems for shipment and track the operational status of glider fleet. Perform upgrades of associated electronic equipment’s hardware and software when updates become available.

As a team member support Oceanography Logistics Support Services in the form of shipping and storage operations. Receiving, storing and moving of remote sensing systems such as profiling floats with alkaline and lithium battery packs.  Label/Re-label and attach shock monitors to individual float shipping containers and deployment containers.  Provide parachute-rigging services (attachment and detachment) on the profiling floats as necessary. Submit a detailed written summary of tasks and any issues or challenges encountered to the COR.

Provide Oceanography Electronics Support Services.  Test software to address pre-deployment configurations and satellite communications testing of the floats. Work with NAVOCEANO on Government computer systems to acquire and activate Iridium modems for remote sensing platform instrument data collection. Perform profiling float system checks.  Remove the float from the shipping container. Perform physical damage checks and document any damage with photos and description in written report. Initiate Screen capture prior to any bench testing or parameter changes. Perform bench test of instrument electronics, and instrument communication tests.

Support the team as needed for mission success.
